• Contract for 24 x Su-30MK2 was signed in 07.2006 by president Hugo Chavez, as reaction for american restrictions in deliveries of spare parts to venezuelan F-16s. Deliveries of Sukhois started very quickly in 12.2006, because KnAAPO have some Su-30MK2 undelivered to China.
• Venezuelan Su-30MK2 are manufactured by KnAAPO (Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Association). Similiar variant is used by China and Vietnam.
• In the end of the 2007 Venezuela ordered IL-76 transport aircrafts and two Il-78 air-tankers.
• Rumours 2008: Venezuela is interested to buy Su-35 (Su-27M2).
• August 4th, 2008 president Hugo Chavez announced that Venezuela has all 24 ordered Su-30s.
• 5th July 2011 Venezuela celebrate a 200-years of independence (Bicentenario de la Independencia de Venezuela "BICENTERARIO 1811 - 2011"). In 2011 a Grupo Aéreo de Caza No 13 near Barcelona celebrate a 5 years of service of the Sukhois ("AÑOS 2006 - 2011").
